More reasons not to play modern games! I haven't played a modern game since forever, and thus far it shows to be a good plan, since modern games are both costly as fuck and of trash quality.

I've watched enough Youtube videos to know that an overwhelming majority of modern games (and most old ones, for that matter, too) are, if not all trash, of sub-par structure and cannot provide something more interesting than a typical game of Master of Magic or a well-made Warcraft 3 map, or a UT 99 map. They're subpar in gameplay, music, and graphical quality.

It's really not.

Well it's subjective. It boils down to what you believe is a good game. For me there are many distinctions,
the categories include graphics, mechanics, writing, directing, community, and etc.

while graphics are always improving, mechanics are pretty stagnant, and writing, directing are hit-and-miss. In terms of community, most games have god awful ones on the whole. Though clans, guilds, and other sub-groups are a bit more random in that respect.

EDIT: Also, i'd be very cautious as to brand DF a modern game. It has been in development since 2002 and is a rogue-like-like ascii game. Which in context of other games developed in the last 5-10 years (or even since 2002) is pretty not modern. It has modern ideas and code and a brilliant developer, but I wouldn't classify it as typical of what you would consider a "modern game".

Communities in games vary from game to game. Some are absolutely TOXIC, I'll admit, but others are honestly fairly welcoming.
