I THINK I MISSED THAT MOVIE

Nope it was totally canon.

Vegeta asked Krillin to almost kill him, so that he could get strong enough to defeat Frieza. He intentionally lowered his power level, though.

When I was in grade school I had a friend who was obsessed with it, as was my brother (he has lots of freaky power fantasies), but I never watched it enough to really understand wtf was going on. Didn't enjoy it either. Weirdest damn show

AH, I read that as "Krillin nearly died then went super saiyan" and had a VERY large WTF.

Actually, Tien's third eye and his multiple arms thing should've been totally reserved to his Super Human transformation. Then we could've had Tien going all Buddha on Goku's ass. Too bad Akira wanks Saiyans to the max.

I've watched the entirety of the animated series, from DB-GT, and a few of the movies.  I still think Vegeta is a better character than Goku in every sense of the concept.
