A guy just walked up to me and asked for directions to the nearest gas station. I told him, and he walked away in the exact opposite direction.
... did he happen to be carrying an umbrella?

A man once asked me directions to the nearest fire station, animal shelter, and bank.

I'm not sure what his plans were.

Duh:
1. Rob fire station.
2. Prank-call animal shelter.
3. Adopt a banker.

Set 'imself on fire and molest dozens of cats while rolling in a pile of money, right? Not what I'd do (Firetruck bobsledding ftw), but it's a solid plan.

... or I guess getting an animal for the fire department or something boring like that.

It popularized clickbait articles and is one of the two legendary Browser Narcotics, alongside TVTropes.

I agree clickbaity titles are awful, but beyond that, I've learned quite a bit from it. And have had a lot of good laughs, so I'd say the good far outweighs the bad.

A lot of their 'facts' tend to include some combination of 'no context', 'lie by omission', 'misrepresentation', and 'wrong'. But spawning clickbait and perpetuating list-based "articles" alone is enough for them to burn, never mind that most of their good writers are gone or bad now.

I won't deny they are far from perfect. But look at an article like this:

And tell me that's not a worthy read.

And maybe if it wasn't list-based I wouldn't feel obliged to not give them a single view more.  :P

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Cracked is full of articles written by people who don't have the faintest clue what the fuck they're talking about, who set out to be as iconoclastic as possible, and justifying anything they say with "hey, why are you taking a humor site seriously", despite there being very little humor there in the first place.

I guess there would be a reason why it popularised clickbait and is a browser narcotic, because it's kinda okay as a site that actually likes to talk about real problems and situations while keeping a light hearted tone (you don't want to learn when it's boring) and most of the articles now are fully researched and well thought out, I mean, if something popularises something it (most of the time) is because it's good and popular, if cracked wasn't popular, then it may never have popularised clickbait.

The only reason I stopped using Cracked.com was because I hate its new layout.

But it could be worse... Mojo on youtube is PURE unadulterated clickbait. Usually ill researched, ill thought out, and just flat out pointless.

It doesn't have to depict them in any particular emotional state, it just has to depict them in a way not relating to their personality.
