There are tax laws for barter. You're supposed to pay taxes on the monetary value of the exchanged goods, even if no cash changed hands.

Barter is kind of a weird one. I know that in NZ it's counted under GST (Goods and Services Tax) and therefore the seller owes the sum to the IRD, not the buyer. Except when you're exchanging goods and services without any currency, it's hard to determine who's the seller and who's the buyer.
I guess Bitcoins should be counted as a foreign currency and taxed in that way (if at all) but I don't know much about how that works.

I got a wireless XBox controller for my computer, and the bloody receiver's wire is longer than those of normal controllers.

Well the local store doesn't sell controller bundles anymore, so it's just the controller, no receiver, no charger.

At this point it's easier to just buy another controller from a trusted website that comes with a receiver.

Ya, they seemed to just stop producing the receiver alone, the only ones I could find were Chinese knock-offs. I just gave up looking and bought a wired controller, works great.
