Yep. That's why I don't read any of her other works; without the interesting setting they're basically just that.

Except for The Ship Who Sang, that was sorta interesting.

And yeah, you can safely skip or skim most of the Pern books without missing anything important. Read the prequel ('cause it's the best), skim the original trilogy enough to get the gist of the geopolitics, then read the trilogy about the princeling and the runt dragon 'cause those are the ones with AVIAS and space. The rest is sort of mediocre fantasy politics mixed with global disaster, softcore, and time traveling. Don't even touch the cash-ins published by her son.

Huh. Actually half-decent, and better than a fair selection of stuff. The opera rap was actually nice.

I have to say, they utterly failed at what they wanted to do.

That was hilarious (also annoying. Annoyilarious? Hilarinnoying?), but I still had to stop it after 15 minutes.

I'm disappointed. They used a bad children's choir. Otherwise, it was pretty okay.

The hell? Apparently Pascal has got no less than four different Boolean variable types.

Boolean (1 byte)
ByteBool (1 byte)
WordBool (2 bytes)
LongBool (4 bytes)

Why would you need four bytes to store a value for true/false?

Different logic types? IDK.

There's a guy across the street who rented out some space in his house for people coming to the Master's Golf Tournament(we live an hour from the nationals)

It was rented by a texan.

He washes his car every afternoon because of all the pollen.

Every afternoon.

The horrible grasp of plant sperm has taken him.

HE WILL NEVER RECOVER :3

Well, pollen actually contains and produces the actual sperm, so it's more like the grasp of plant testicles.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Wow, if the pollen were think enough to be visible I think I would actually up and die being there. There's got to be a point where you just can't function any more, and I think those conditions would be more than met.

EDIT: And pollen obviously analogues best to semen, fluid and all.

Ah.

Anyways, yeah, pollen gets real bad up here in the Augusta, Georgia area. Luckily, I'm not allergic, so it's at most a minor inconvenience to me.

Fungi have sperm... but I didn't know plants did? I thought the male nuclei burrowed through the stamen through cell division of the pollen grain, abd eventually fused with the egg and the polar nuclei(forming the Endosperm)

This.
My allergy is bad enough, barely any pollen is enough to get me sneezing for a good 10 minutes, possibly 20 if really pushing it, and if it's visible, well...
I'd probably die.
