It was an actual controversy back in October.  Apparently Facebook was convinced to drop it, then, but maybe it's coming back?
It's April 1rst, who knows!

And, currently, there rules are to use your official name rather than anything else.  It has to be what shows up at least some of these ID forms:

Though I have a family member who uses his middle name for pretty much everything, to the extent that it's on billing statements as his first name, so there's *some* leeway.

Despite being off for Spring Break, my boss wanted me to come in on Monday. We're getting new cooking equipment in this week, and she wanted us to clean all the old, caked-on grease left over from the old stuff. I was scheduled to come in from 9-2, but we were done with our assigned tasks by 11:30. Apparently, 12-30 years of old grease is not that hard to remove.


After being questioned why I came home early, my stepdad then, once again, suggests getting a new job, this time because he thinks I'm not eligible for unemployment due to my job being part-time off-the-books. This is wrong because A) eligibility for unemployment benefits is not based on whether employment is part-time or full-time, it's based off of total income. And the last time I looked at the requirements(admittedly ~5 years ago), I make enough to qualify. And B) my job is on-the-books, because I refuse to work off-the-books, and I have a mountain of pay stubs to show that my job is on-the-books.

I'm pretty sure that it's still statiscally likely that someone using a game's forum is male, and people seem more surprised than weirded out.

It still really pisses me off when folks automatically assume some form of discomfort over the revelation of another's gender instead of a simple "whoops, my bad".

I'm actually surprised more of my favorite webcomics haven't done April 1 things.  Kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop, somehow I usually get fooled by a few things.
