Another way to understand the Monty Hall problem. Let's say you have a goat, a goat and a car. The player makes a random selection to begin with. Then the host must select a goat from the remaining two choices. Then the player may change their selection. There are three doors:

1. goat
2. goat
3. car

If the player selects 1 the host must select 2.
If the player selects 2 the host must select 1.
If the player selects 3 the host must select 1 or 2.

The player has a one in three chance of selecting a car.

Once the host has made its selection the player may change its selection. If it does so:

If the player selected 1 it must now select 3.
If the player selected 2 it must now select 3.
If the player selected 3 it must now select 1 or 2.

The player now has a two in three chance of selecting a car.

Because sometimes talking about things in the present that existed in the past makes sense when that thing doesn't exist any more. Like dinosaurs.

Some of the old Greek philosophical texts are really brilliant for making an entire classroom of freshmen sit in awkward silence while asked to discuss. (A quarter are silent because they're embarrassed, a quarter because they're stupid, and half because they didn't read.)

Regarding the Monty Hall problem/paradox, I recommend seeking out the Mythbusters episode about it. They explain it well, AND thet verify it by actually running the scenario 200 times.

I remember reading an explanation of the problem that made it crystal clear and I understood it perfectly, but I can't remember where, and every subsequent explanation doesn't make any sense to me even though I know it must be true based on my memory of that first explanation.

The first... Though I don't care the female characters look sexy or something like that.

I just want to get through one right now that doesn't have these features
1) Male Gaze: Yep her breasts SURE are important I am sure...
2) Sexual harassment: Yep, sure is funny anime... I mean don't we all pants women and laugh?
3) Female Body Issues that are built to draw attention to male standards of beauty: Yeah just keep calling that thirty year old woman old... I am sure it is hilarious that the society is such a youth culture that not being a young woman instantly makes you a hag... HILL FREEKEN LARIOUS!

As long as these three features are absent I'll be fine. Heck I'll take one with no female characters.

I'd normally be able to ignore it but I recently watched a series that has made me feel rather dirty.
