Kind of a WTF realization I had: to be honest, I'm not that bothered about the threat of people turning on my phone or tablet camera and viewing the feed remotely. 90% of the time they'd see the inside of my pocket or backpack, the other 10% they'd see a featureless wall or floor. Even if I had a front-facing camera, so what? The government has all sorts of pictures of me, from my driving permit to school photos. Photos I send via email or text message aren't even of me; they're usually pictures of my cat, or some techno gadget. Hardly compromising stuff. Of course this is a dangerous precedent for privacy law; however, assuming it happens law or no law, from the government or not, I'm not that bothered.

Besides all that, I feel like as long as wireless devices exist there will be somebody with the ability to compromise them. Smart devices and camera flip-phones aren't going away any time soon, so it all comes back to the idea of "If you don't want people to have pictures of your genitals, maybe don't take those pictures and then keep them on a device that is visible to the Internet (and the greater world of wireless cell networks) at all times".

Again, this isn't about the greater issue of online privacy, privacy law or what have you; this specific scenario just doesn't really rustle my jimmies that much.
