Story driven games do not always translate to good. I've heard that Final Fantasy themed movie didn't do so well.

Advent Children? I fucking hate FF7, but it was pretty as all get-out and had decent fight choreography.

I think its more like the SpongeBob episode where Spongebob breaks into random people's houses disguised as "the open window maniac" to try to teach people about home security.

The disturbing part, though, is that this is legitimately the world these adults live in. There were, what, 5-6 people who are legally permitted to operate an automobile who all thought this was a useful lesson? That a kid needed to be abducted, blindfolded, had a gun drawn on him, and threatened with sexual slavery because that's a real thing that legitimately happens if you don't run screaming from every adult you see.

Just think about that for a second. Actual people. A fair number of actual people. With like, jobs and such. This is the hell they're trapped in.

It's like a cheesy alternate scifi world or something.

We're all trapped in hell, IO, we just don't know it yet. When/If God's 'rapture' comes, those who are let in to heaven will be beamed up, those who are sent to hell will be to stay on Earth.

Those people are pretty fucking crazy, though.

Not just this; pretty much across the board. Random aggression/crime is relatively rare; if somebody's going to cause you problems, almost always it's going to be somebody you know. As this case ironically and unintentionally highlights.

Based on the identity of the perpetrator, there are three distinct types of kidnapping: kidnapping by a relative of the victim or "family kidnapping" (49 percent), kidnapping by an acquaintance of the victim or "acquaintance kidnapping" (27 percent), and kidnapping by a stranger to the victim or "stranger kidnapping" (24 percent).

More than 200,000 children were abducted by family members.
More than 58,000 children were abducted by nonfamily members.

Only a tiny minority of kidnapped children are taken by strangers. Between 1990 and 1995 the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children handled only 515 stranger abductions, 3.1 percent of its caseload. A 2000 report by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Programs reported that more than 3/4 of kidnappings were committed by family members or acquaintances of the child. The study also found that children abducted by strangers were harmed less frequently than those taken by acquaintances.
