Everybody has that problem. Chemical-related urges twist our thoughts and intentions all the time, or at least try to. It's a comment on the person if they can't restrain themselves, though of course this depends on the level of the urge.

I thought it was because fighting the illness takes away resources away from digestion as that is one of the first thing that slows down in the body. Quick to ramp up, fast to slow down. Edit: And apparently digestion signals the feeling of fullness, which prevents the feeling of hunger, so slower digestion leads to less hunger. A source. Maybe my comprehension is off.
