Taking your personal accounting seriously isn't a vice, imo. There'd be a lot fewer court cases if people actually had invoices and whatnot on hand.

The author has a strange sense of humor.

I've never seen another web comic quite like Pandyland, I'll be very sad if the author were to ever stop making them. It's probably my favorite just because of how out there it is.

In English today we watched a spliced up version of 'monster house'
We had a few questions on gothic literature/story telling to answer while watching.
The first ten seconds of watching we see and old man get strollered off his front lawn into an abulance, he drops a key in the lawn which a kid picks up.
The video pauses and the question comes up,"What does the key sim loose?"
.... WHAT?!?
Seriously!
I watched ten seconds of a video and basicaly see a dieing guy drop a key that an overly curious kid picks up.
What could that symbolize with only that information?!?

Putting on my English Teacher cap, some bollocks about how a key means there's a lock, and the dude's death and/or the kid's appearance unlocked something.
Possibly also something about the kid being the successor to the old dude in keeping something from being unlocked, or trying to unlock it, or something.

Kid eventually ends a long-term obligation for the old man by trying to solve the problem a way old guy never did. A case of successor being better than the original I guess.
Wouldn't of happened without the key being dropped either.

Is, uh. Is that supposed to be symbolize?

Though I'm not familiar enough with gothic media to say, do keys fit into some kind of convention within the genre? Particularly during the period of the piece was made? A lot of times when you've got a fairly close knit writing/media community authors/creators will stick to certain shared conventions to mean things. Kind of like an in-joke, just... more meaningful.

If not, then what OW and ArK said, mostly, but... well, part of critical watching/reading/etc. -- the kind of stuff you do when you're actually looking for and picking apart symbolism -- is looking for stuff like that. Common themes, shared meanings within the genre, etc. Sometimes they're even intentional and add meaning to the work. _{usually they are not, and meaning is tacked onto the work like an epileptic kid hopped up on PCP trying to pin a squirrel's tail to a quadriplegic donkey there is no escape, only blood and the screaming of wounded asses}

After posting some weird works that had Fanfiction about them, I've decided to look at what crossovers there are to be had. Just because it's listed, doesn't mean I'm surprised to see it exists, it's just that I would find it difficult to write for it. In parentheses is how many fics there are about the subject in question

I'm a literal thinking person so a key is a key, not something to say that kid is going to solve the old guys problems( especialy when the kid is the one that gave him the heart attack in the first place)

Until you see more of the story, the symbolism could mean almost anything. The question is: Is the teaching looking for the answer or a answer?
