That might actually work if you have a small enough gun; I think they make revolvers small enough that could fit in there... it'd probably be something firing .25 ACP though, which is around the power range of .22 and [guns guns guns, guns guns blah guns blah blah muh stoppin power blah blah 9mm]

Still though, that would probably be a solid idea if you didn't want to carry around a big pistol. I wouldn't say it would be particularly safe, but it would WORK.
