I just got a random text message from someone who said they were my "frenemy" and refused to elaborate, and then said I should know who they are because I gave them my number...
But I haven't given anyone my number. Do they just not exist?

I read a book like that once.  The protagonist got increasingly irate at the antagonizer, and then paranoid when bad things started to happen.  In the end they committed suicide, and it was discovered that he was his stalker.

And by occasionally, I mean once. I had a conversation with them about politics in Antarctica when I was supposed to be studying.

Who does know your number? Start there, and then try to figure out who they could have told it to, and then use some kind of speech-pattern analysis to determine who it is.

That's the problem. I just got the number yesterday and messaged my girlfriend from it. So she is the only one who could know, and I doubt she would go around telling "frenemies" of mine. Especially without telling me...

I can think of maybe three people she could have told it to, but it wasn't any of them. So... ???

1. Is your name very common that it could be a mistaken message?
2. Are there certain speech patterns which give the certainty that it was specifically aimed towards you, or at least your age group and associated lingo of the time? (:P on the latter part, but the first part of #2 is serious)
3. ...Is the use of 'frenemy' common there? As in, was it in the text?
4. Are you very sure that it was really meant for you? Or was it a passive-aggressive 'message me back' note?
