I know comment sections on websites are generally stupid, but there was someone on the BBC comments that thought that Britain was a laughing stock because we have more than two powerful parties.

And there goes my faith in humanity for today.

Reading the European Politics thing about modified crops, I remembered the Toffee tree planted in Narnia by the future Professor. I then wondered about its genetically modified potential, before hitting the obvious hurdle- none of the seeds were brought back from Narnia. So I proceeded to think about how it could be brought back, and came to the conclusion it possibly was brought back by the children. They ate the fruit, and thus could carry it back before...ehhh...dropping it in their leavings. I then pondered the best way to obtain the seeds and culture them into fully grown toffee trees.

So, the WTF is about my mind being strange, to say the least .

Rabid, usually. Slavering is another good one, and just plain starved works, too. Haggard and hungry. Ravenous itself works decently. I think you'd usually use two or more adjectives in that case, probably spread over a couple of sentences, or just let its actions speak for itself. Gaunt figure, desperate hunger in the eyes, etc.

Watching this show where basically this woman leaves a guy with her baby because she has to...

And she is all like "Woe always me, I couldn't raise you nor stay with your father... for I had to be Empress of the Galaxy"

And I am just sitting there thinking: "You could have sent financial support... your tale of woe sort of rings a little false there"

I mean I get it, you couldn't have kept in touch... But really? One delivery of enough money to get the kid through college was too much for you?

... if she was actually the empress of the galaxy? It's pretty possible. Random connection like that, something even remotely traceable -- and if you've actually got an empress of the galaxy, the tech's, intent, and capability are all likely there -- then having any sort of contact would be a really good way to put a gigantic "KILL ME" bullseye on the poor little bugger.

Alternately it could have been a bigger issue that just sending a money package or something. Exchange rates, issues of potentially non-compatible currency if you're dealing with different tech bases... there's a bunch of ways it could fall out she actually couldn't, without drawing enough suspicion to get the kid's planet glassed.

More likely it's just vaguely bad writing, though.

Personally, I'd actually be kinda' interested in seeing/reading the story where she did try and it did get a KKV dropped on the kid's head. That's not a story you see told very often.

Of all the horror stories I've had directly related to me, this one might take the cake.

I was talking to one of my co-workers, and we happened onto the topic of terrible roommates. She'd recently visited her boyfriend, and discovered something in the bathroom he and his roomie shared with their suitemates. Turns out that one or both of those guys had been, over the course of several months, accumulating a substantial pile of used fap-tissues behind the toilet. It was allegedly higher than the tank.
