I have never seen a series so hellbent on deescalating its plot in my entire life.

Just imagine Rocky if when the doctor reveals that if he fights he might receive brain damage... it is a pretty big decision but Rocky decides he is going to do it. The tension is high...

But then the Doctor runs out and says that it turns out he was wrong, there is no risk of brain damage.

Rocky is relieved... he is about to enter the ring

Then the Doctor tells Rocky that he is actually in his prime and will have another 10 years of excellent Boxing fitness.

Rocky is flabbergasted.

Then you kind of understand how I feel about the current show I am watching. It just refused to keep any of its ambiguity or stakes... anything that makes you think. It turned what started off as one of the best seasons into one of the worst seasons. I've never seen it before. USUALLY shows just don't notice when they are raising questions. This show knows... There is "The plot is on railroad tracks that doesn't go anywhere near the most interesting stuff" and then there is "The plot is actively steering around the best parts"

Seriously I MUST know if this has ever happened anywhere else? and I don't mean "retroactively", like revealing the previous challenge wasn't a big deal, like if the doctor revealed that it turns out he couldn't get brain damage after the fight.

Reselling anti-anxiety drugs: Very much believable. Even though they don't get you "high-high", they are very addictive.
