My job now involves logging into a website to manage various things. One thing I can do is "proxy" as other users so that I can do things for them or otherwise handle stuff under their account as though I were that person. No password or other login information is required to do this. Also, I can proxy as my boss, who has more privileges than I do.

I'm going to quietly weep, now. Their security is bad and they should feel bad.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Am I the only one who thinks the ebola virus is vaguely genitalia-shaped?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

aww, it's kind of cute, more than genitalia-y

My real question is that, creepy fetish or no, who the hell would eat a bathtub full of ramen?
Ramen reheats fine via microwave for... a while. Several days, at minimum. Especially if you drain it, first. They'd probably eat it bit by bit over a week or so.

I think the guy is just going to strip naked and soak in the ramen-sweat.  He'll occasionally dunk his head under and take a bite out of the resulting concoction.

That's sorta what I meant. Because I've done the Week of Ramen thing before. Once. It is not in any way, shape, or form good, even with a jar of vitamin supplements.

... depends on the person. There was something like a six month stretch I ate pretty much nothing but ramen, and it was pretty alright. Still eat it fairly regularly, even, if more often as part of something else than just ~ramen~. I could see someone doing it relatively often.

You want to make sure your eating fruit or taking vitamins if you do that too long. A friend from Uni ended up with Scurvy from living of 2 minute noodles for too long, not something you really want.

I think one of the politicians that did the foodstamp challenge, the only one that insisted is was doable, ate ramen the whole time. He should have had to do it longer like that so the scurvy could set in and he could insist is was fine through a mouth without teeth.

Reading some stuff about the food-stamp challenge terrifies me for two reasons.

1. The obvious: that's not much money.
2. The less obvious, but more worrying to me: assuming those politicians/religios leaders aen't just incompetent shoppers, food is freking expensive in the US.

$2.39 for two apples? I can buy two kilograms of apples for that much money.

Actually, compared to the EU, food and most other domestic gods are far cheaper in the US - partly down to taxation, partly down to how much cheap shit is allowed to be/be in food.

If you can pick up just a few more fresh raw ingredients cheap it's really easy to turn ramen into a variety of much healthier, much tastier soups. Additionally if you are willing to buy raw ingredients there are tons out there that are actually cheaper by the pound then many types of ramen are, often including things like potatoes, oranges, cabbage, and so on. Course that is the national average price, so it might be different where you are, but often times you can find at least some raw food that is within about +10% of the cost of ramen that can be mixed into larger batches of ramen to make it overall more healthier and more tasty. Ideally this would also let you pick up some more potassium to help balance the enormous amounts of extra salt that living on ramen is going to be pumping into your body.

This challenge would be much easier in South Africa, where maize meal (coarse-ground corn floury stuff cooked into coarse bread or porridge) is legally required to be vitamin-fortified because it's the staple diet of almost every poor person. It's available in bulk for very low prices, is almost impossible to cook badly, is extremely filling, and won't kill you if you subsist off it. Add cabbage, beans, lentils and some low-grade meat and you're probably set.

I mean, my family of six and a half (sister's fiancee eats here half the time) lives off groceries for about R1200 a week (~$110), and we eat fairly well.
