Course it would, it happens with a lot of things, but it needn't even be used for negative purposes, like I said earlier it could be used in a rolling circus kinda thing where poor people can taste exotic flavors from all over the world...
I've just realized that I literally said 'Look at it, you can even punish children with it!' as if that would be a thing I would like to exist.

I would call fabricating the wires to connect 8 (virtual) controllers to a SNES hacking, of a physical sort.
But the SNES console hardware itself, and the game cartridge are unhacked, so all in all it's pretty amazing. I'd like to see the finished product they talked about where they program the entire original Super Mario title into Super Mario World.

Technically, based on that spell and if supplied with enough power to be able to blanket a warzone, then it could probably be classed as an non lethal organic weapon, find something disgusting and putrid enough and you have an easy way for non lethal subduing of riots, as well as something to be used in prisons or even schools as a sort of deterrent.

It sounded to me like the reason it didn't work was time constraints. Give them a month more and I think they might have it.
However, if you have more information on that, I'm fine without it. Seeing real-time coding in the first place was enough to make the mind boggle.

The SNES feat is because, at least for Super Mario World, userspace and codespace have no separation. Now, mostly this means you're just unknowingly stringing out a bunch of useless invalid commands that have no effect while playing the game. However, with this knowledge you can navigate to the position of re-writing the game's code just through controller imputs. That's why when the freeze happens eight virtual controllers activate: they're slamming out the complete code for Pong and Snake in the space of those few seconds.

It's pretty insane when you think about it. I mean, even more insane is the fact that the original intention was to recreate another Mario game and then TAS that, though unfortunately it wasn't possible due to time constraints (I think on the amount of inputs they could use.) If they could have 16 controllers, for instance, I wonder what would be possible...
