...says the person who lives in a country where they use units equal to 14 pounds to measure people's weight but still use kilometers for distance and reconcile liters for petrol and pints for alcohol.

Hey, at least a pint is a pint, not 1.2 pints like it is in the US.

Besides, the only real imperial unit used for anything in the UK any more is the mile, thanks to all road signs and cars everywhere set up to use them. Pretty much everything else is metric, thanks to the influence of the EU.

Petrol here is just under $2 per litre. Which also happens to be the lowest it's been in a long time. Like, multiple years long time.
We're at like, .90 cents to the litre here. Never complaining about Canada's gas prices again.

Ahh, that plot/mechanic disconnect.

Playing game.* Main character worrying about future -- money, position, etc. Main character is capable of laying waste the countryside and raking in several thousand gold pieces per nap**, easily -- alone, nevermind with help. Main character is capable of generating a gigantic fuckoff energy sword that could probably chunk through a castle wall. Still worried about making end's meat.

Is also capable of easily turning himself into a miracle healer, easily able to cure death, mass groups of injured, all sorts of diseases...

... but still somehow doubtful of own capabilities and position in the world.

...

s'just. dude. I think you're going to be okay. Just maybe. Appreciate the character building and growth and whatnot, but it's kinda' out of place when you're a walking siege engine and trauma center...

*Crimson Gem Saga. It's... alright.
**And has accumulated -- and spent -- sums of gold several times in excess of the amount given as sufficient to set someone for life, earlier in the game, already... trivially.

Yeah, that disconnect have always bugged me in these games that are heavy on both plot and gameplay.

I've recently began to wonder if there's a way to make plot become gameplay. Like, a gameplay revolved literally around manipulating the written plot to your end. Sorta like the text adventure, only with text being the gameplay element itself.

Ayup. Our government taxes literally everything they can get their mucky paws on. Doesn't help that we have to import half our oil, too.

And yet, New Zealand is one of the most desirable places to live.  Surprisingly enough, the "government" does contain employees who are people who spend their time working for the rest of the people after all.  It's not like NZ is geographically large anyway.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-weisser/new-video-tells-the-truth-about-guns_b_6390442.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592

There is a "public service announcement" making the rounds that involves a teenager stealing a gun from his mother's house (a felony in most if not all states), taking it to school (also a felony in most if not all states, as well as grounds for immediate expulsion even if there was no prosecution) and putting it on his teacher's desk, stating "I'm afraid to have a gun in the house." Should the teacher take it, the teacher would, naturally, be committing multiple felonies. The "PSA" portrays this not only as a good thing, but comments from the producer suggest that the intention was to get ALL teenagers from gun-owning households to do so. The video has drawn massive fire from all sides of the gun ownership divide, with anti-gun groups calling it "the most irresponsible thing that has been produced yet", while the response from the pro-gun groups has been pretty much exactly what would be expected.

And then THIS asshole tries to pretend that all of the backlash is from whiners that don't like the way that this video "tells the truth" about guns, that the teenager in question prevented a school shooting, and that the video shows a boy "exercising basic common sense."

Finding things in space is way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way easier than finding things on Earth.

Clearly we need to launch people into space then slingshot them from Moon back onto Earth.

You know you've goofed when even the people who's views you're trying to support are berating you for what you've done. But seriously, this is pants-on-head levels of retarded.
