Apparently, in WWII, the Germans wanted a way to automatically aim bombs at ships in the water. So what they did was strap bombs to CATS, because cats always land on their feet and avoid water. Idea was, cat is dropped from high up, cat sees water and air rolls towards solid ground, namely enemy ship. Then, once cat is landed, detonate bomb. They failed to account for the fact that cats usually faint when dropped from that high up. The Murricans tried something similar with bats, with similar results. Look, I know strapping explosives to animals is FUN, but please don't try to justify it as efficient or even effective.

How did they even get authorized to do that? That sounds like the sort of thing which would make Hitler execute you for crimes against felinity.

They did work. Just got the location wrong.

The bat bomb worked perfectly, and was suitable for deployment. The only issue was that right before it was ready, some scientists managed to build an extra sun, and the program was considered obsolete.

The cat thing sounds pretty bogus. German guided antiship bombs weren't that far behind the American ones (the use of which ended fairly quickly due to running out of targets), and a few may actually have been used.
