In other news, my school has decided to no longer offer plastic knives, because apparently somebody in the school attempted to murder somebody with one. He failed, naturally, because plastic knives that hardly do anything to a baked potato aren't the best stabbing tools.

Truth be told they can be sharpened into a shiv if you got the patience. That said, they should instead focus on identifying potential murderers rather than just banning blunt knives.

They should ban forks while theyre at it because a one pronged fork can make a pretty good stabbing weapon. Or maybe just ban plastic utensils because I imagine you could take the handle of any of them and make that into a shiv.

Sure, they are sharp, but they are not *pointy*. The worst you could do is slash someone with the edge, which would hurt and potentially even draw blood, but is not much of a lethal weapon.

I have managed to jam pencils into my hands, and wound myself, multiple times. I have never been injured by plastic cutlery.

I stabbed a kid who laughed at my art project once.  It was with a pencil and not a plastic knife.

Im going to say the plastic forks are even more dangerous than the knives.  You guys should learn to slurp soup from a bowl no more than 3/4 inch deep, to prevent drowning.  Gotta think of safety first.

I agree, there are very few good things about them, notably their price compared to metal cutlery, and disposability, and even the latter is debatable. "No need to wash dishes, just throw the cutlery into the dump! It'll be someone else's problem!"
