I just watched the WEIRDEST Christmas Special I've seen in my life.

Why? because it is CLEARLY written for adults.

Yet was made for kids...

Giving it some sort of weird quasi-hybrid.

UV-only, though. But the protein, GFP, is hella neat, because it can be used to check if another gene you're inserting actually got inserted - just shine a UV lamp on it, and the thing used before was antibiotic resistance genes. Which causes, well, pretty obvious problems.

Can confirm, made ampicillin-resistant fluorescent bacteria in Bio class last week.

Haven't actually seen the results yet, but so far I've learned that:

• Scientific procedure involves a great deal of sitting around waiting.
• Actually reading the instruction sheet in front of you is a much better idea than just listening to the professor explain shit from across the room where you can't actually see what he's doing.
• I'm dumb (according to A.; this may be related to my previous point).

I remember doing that lab in AP Bio last year. It was like, the only high school science lab where I actually got decent results.
