Stupid store managers are stupid.
There is a subway program where you buy 6 subs and you get one free.
The computer system that keeps track of how many subs you buy has been down several times (more than 12) in the past year. I know the little tag on my keychain has missed out on about 3 free sandwiches because of it. So today, after the latest failure of their machinery, one of their employees handed me a free sub, knowing I was owed far more than that as a regular customer who had been screwed out of the credit of like 20 purchases.
In comes stupid the manager to cuss out the nicest, most polite employee who I try to have wait on me whenever possible....
"Excuse me sir, first and foremost, I'll happily pay for this sandwich like I do all of the time, several times a week, on a long term regular basis. That wonderful woman you're verbally accosting is the finest employee you have. You see, I could and sometimes do go down the street to your competition at East of Chicago Pizza for subs that are cheaper with free refills on drinks and a brand new eat in area for less money than you charge. I don't, because this lovely lady here is incredibly polite and considerate, which your tag scanning machine isn't. That machine tends to break down and not record dozens of the sandwhiches I purchase here. Those are sandwiches that should counts towards free ones and I estimate it has happened 20 times. I have seen the repair truck in the parking spaces outside several times.
I understand the fact that everybody is pushing for more efficiency and cost savings, but that machine is frankly, crap. When you have a buy 6 get 1 free deal and your machinery fails to give people credit for their purchases people feel cheated, because you see, they are. Your excellent employee here was rectifying that mistake, and she knows I bought those subs that the machine didn't work. She made the subs, and tried diligently to get the machine to work. Now, then, how are we going about this?"
The look on his face was quite priceless.
