Until there's a seven customer queue and two guys are still messing around, I imagine. Also I would end up raging so hard at those people because I take everything far too seriously. This is life, not a game! There are no autosaves!

Pheh. Seven customer queues are a cakewalk that I can handle completely on my own. In less than a minute.

At my job, we have at minimum a 24 person queue all day long. That's considered to be the "short" "OMG I cannot believe your line is so short" line.

People like coffee for some reason.

My own WTF today is I was looking for the World Painter utility that I keep seeing mentioned in the worldgen cookbook thread. Then I learned that it's BUILT INTO DF. I mean, I really seriously thought that only a utility could do that!

The perfect world utility is a little easier to use than it, at least. The world painter has a difficult ui.

I have just spent 2 hours if not more learning how to disassemble a laptop keyboard, spraying compressed air errywhere and using my guitar pick as a prying tool it was clearly not designed to be trying to fix mine after a spill (because a soda that sat on the floor for six hours after not being shaken at all decided to spray me and the laptop nearby - at what theoretically was a safe distance.

In the end, accepting defeat and the fact that it's borkend hard enough that my 's' key became a 'ws' key and several others don't work altogether, I decided to buy a replacement. Within literally seconds of paying for it, it started working again (except for the 's' key, for now, I'm using Ctrl+V to paste it in. Most of everything started working again literally seconds afterwards.

It could still use a replacement, so no great loss.

Unfortunantly, yes.

Although we're having a rather slow day today. If we were busy I doubt it would have happened.
And yeah, I usually handle around 7 or so people at one time on my own on a daily basis.

I just find it really bizarre that Toady saw fit to make a "Professional Testicles Remover" job title, rather than lumping gelding under "Animal Caretaker" or any of the other similar job titles.  Like...really?  That's what a dwarf defines their profession as?  That's the only job they do, remove animal testicles?  Even Veterinarians in today's highly-specialized job fields don't just castrate animals.  There's no one who only does that one job to the point that their job title is "Grand Master Gelder."

Yes.  Especially since slaughtering doesn't seem to have its own skill, probably because slaughtering is currently instantaneous and has no chance of failure.

I think it would make more sense if animals that were about to be slaughtered or gelded had a chance of attacking their handler, or even freaking out and going wild temporarily (the system used for tantrums could be used here).  The skill that universally represents handling nervous animals and keeping them under control could be the currently-unused 'Animal Caretaker'.

Animal doctors are not currently implemented, but once they are, it would make sense that all animal surgery, including gelding, should probably fall under the same category as regular doctor activities, as well as involving the Animal Caretaker skill to take into account the fact that they are being performed on a non-sapient creature.

Slaughtering isn't based off butchery but does train it, as far as I know. That makes butchery slaughtering's associated skill.
