First snow of the year, my faithful boots have some kind of weird hole in them - that lets snow in in small quanities above the sole so that I get to walk on it until it melts and gets my sock wet .. . . ewww

My condolences, I've been experiencing this problem for years, and it sucks.

I might just be passing on misinformation from a stupid comedy website, but if you have a leak in a seam of leather boots there may be ways you can seal the seam again by applying petroleum jelly and baking it. If your boots are non-leather or there is an actual hole, or this is actually bogus info, you may be SOL.

However, I imagine one of those adhesive patches sold at fabric stores, applied to the inside of the boot rather than the outside, could be most efficacious. It depends on where the hole is, because the movement of your foot in the boot may remove it at an inopportune time, such as when chatting up a romantic interest, during which exercise a cold wet toe is inadvisable.

If the problem is a separation of the sole from the upper, you may be able to use lavish quantities of super glue to remedy the situation. I prefer the gel-type super glue because it's easier to apply in the right quantity and easier to control so it doesn't instantly bond a ring to the finger wearing it (which I've had happen). In this case it could also allow you to get away with just one application.

Of course, there probably is a special glue used for just this purpose, and I imagine it isn't terribly expensive.

If it's the last case, use Gorilla Glue. In all other cases, apply enough duct tape and the problem will be resolved.

True facts. Things I always take with me on long hikes include a particular brand of strong and flexible glue and a roll of duct tape. When the sole is flapping off your shoe and you're five hours away from the nearest tarred road, you do what you gotta.

Ironically, CGPGrey, whose videos people only ever seem to link when they say that the US is (abnormally) corrupt and shitty but can't argue it themselves, showed me the fascinatingly complicated, bizarrely old-fashioned, and unnervingly corrupt nature of the City of London.

And people say the US constitution is shit for giving Wyoming two senators.

There are quite a few hives of corrupted scum and villainy in this world. The place we call 'London' is one of those. Note: I don't mean 'London' as in 'people from London'. More like 'the lizard people disguised as capitalists which are sucking the life out of the UK hidden beneath London' 'London'.

I put a clove of old garlic that has been sitting in my cupboard for a few weeks into my aquaponics setup.  In one week its already shot up and is about 10cm high already.   :o

I thought to myself, "Jervill, why not go to the restaurant, it's only 7 blocks away?" and did.  I ate a meal and had stuff to drink, but it was fucking unbelievably cold on the way back on my walk.  When the eyeglasses fog up, it means it's damn cold.

Also, Gorilla Tape. Wonderful stuff.
