One time in a college history class, we wasted the entire class with the professor attempting to explain footnotes to a student (the prof, as many historians do, preferred footnotes to parenthetical end-notes). Even the students were getting hostile towards the guy for wasting our time.

Best part was when he got defensive and said, "It's not like I'm an idiot or something! I'm working on my Master's in English!"

Which kinda says everything.

Is college. Dunno how y'all do it in Europe, but here university curricula tend to push students to take a broad array of classes outside their discipline. Although admittedly, by the time you're in grad school it tends to be more narrowly focused. Maybe he wanted to be a historical fiction writer.

I bought this soybean supplemented beef the other day.  I knew it was cheaper for a reason, but for the price I couldn't pass it up, despite it being in a can.  Now I know why it was so cheap.  Uggh, even beans and chilli cant wash out that horrid flavor; and to boot the smell while cooking is pretty gross as well.  I bought 5 cans of the crap.
