Signal processing:

One of my assignments want me to prove that the sum from n=0 to N-1 of sin(2*pi*k*n/N)*sin(2*pi*m*n/N) = 0 for non-negative integers N and k != m, but this is inherently wrong since even for say N = 10, k = 4 and m = 6 I get the sum to be -5. Without delving too crazily into special cases, only by limiting k,m < N/2 can I ensure that the statement holds.

I mean, I get that it would be lovely if it actually worked since then the next statement that k=m gives N/2 would allow one to select the mth sine frequency component of a fourier series (and thus be finished with the homework), but since I cant I just don't see what the hell they want me to do here.

Statistically, my posts in FG&RP are negligible. More than 1/5 of all the posts in the mod releases forum are mine.

Did you calculate this by hand? IIRC the percents on your profile page are wrong.

They were fixed a while back. Computing by hand gets the same results, 1352/6000 == 0.255333333..., which is what the statistics say.

Oh wow, there are numbers when you hover over your posts per hour. The numbers definitely aren't out of your total posts, because my numbers add up to like 100-200. Maybe that display only shows posts made in the last X days?
