I always understood it as extreme peek-a-boo that startles the pokemon out of evolution.

It occurs to me: how do you stop a pokemon from evolving?  I always imagined you slapped it or poked at it :|

I kind of imagine it as you staring down the Pokemon until it decides that evolution is a bad idea.

Funnily enough, the alarmingly rapid development and high birthrate of Pokemon leads to equally fast Darwinian evolution; among other things, fitness among Pokemon includes the ability to sense and respond properly to the behavioral cues of trainers. No living Pokemon actually knows what a 'B' is, but they all recognize when a trainer doesn't want them to evolve and instinctively default to a mental reaction of "Oh, no, not the Bs! Not the Bs!"

You know what is odd?

Out of all the techno-nonsense Star Trek has EVER pulled, all the weirdness, all the stupidity... the ONE I just cannot accept that I find the most ridiculous beyond all others...

Is when Data the android, using medieval chemicals and medicine, discovers the cure for Radiation poisoning.

It is like the uncanny valley of techno-babble. The closer it is to real science the more unbelievable it becomes.

Ps. I know that there are compounds in real life that when ingested protects you from radiation poisoning and can even speed up healing by lessening the self-proliferation of the illness... But "cough syrup" that cures radiation poisoning isn't science-fiction it is just flat out fantasy.

but . . . theres  always been a larger than average concentration of people with homosexual orientation/tendencies on this forum, even for the internet.  Back when I first joined they were musing about whether it was DF+Toady or the Lower Forums that did it

Given that most people here are American... GOOD FREEKEN LUCK keeping closet doors closed.

Americans, and Canadians by the same measure, tend to use these really cheap doors that are not made of solid wood.

It is why in movies you have people breaking down doors... Because this is one of the few countries where that is, by a large part, possible.

Also I've already been in a board with probably a 50% homosexuality rate, maybe a bit less than that. So that has normalized my POV of that subject.
