Haven't with non-english languages, personally, but it should be noted that that is supremely common for people learning a non-native language. It was noted as one of the basic signs of fairly advanced fluency when you start doing that (and, especially, dreaming) in whatever language you're learning, when I was going through french classes. The folks in the classes that actually went on and pursued learning and using the language definitely reported the phenomena.

So it's, y'know, normal.

Yup. All the time. But I'm also Polish, might be some kind of psycho-linguistic weirdness. Or the fact that I'm spending so much time in the anglophone (-type?) interwebz that I'm sometimes having trouble remembering the Polish word over the English one.

It does not help that there's a bunch of single English words that would require an entire phrase to express the same concept in Polish.

So, english is to polish like german is to english sometimes? Mainly I'm thinking of the word schadenfreude, not sure if theres other german examples, but that's just the one I know of.

Nah, German is just cheating by rolling several words into one. You could theoretically do it in English to the same effect, but you'd sound like the Inner Party sent you to a parallel universe to spread the plusgood revolution.
