'English' and 'logical' don't really belong anywhere in the same paragraph.
Well, imo it's the most logical-sounding language apart from Conlangs.

Weird.

Is your thought process different when thinking in another language?  Ive always imagined it would be
I learn and remember things faster when I read and think about them in english. For example, I had to learn types of rock for school. I have already forgotten what they were called in polish but I know them in english. A useless skill for school.

Have you ever caught yourself thinking or talking to yourself in english although it isn't your native language?

Yup. All the time. But I'm also Polish, might be some kind of psycho-linguistic weirdness. Or the fact that I'm spending so much time in the anglophone (-type?) interwebz that I'm sometimes having trouble remembering the Polish word over the English one.

It does not help that there's a bunch of single English words that would require an entire phrase to express the same concept in Polish.

I always think in English. I like how logical and modern the language is compared to the archaism of Thai.
In English, through, though, rough, and couch don't rhyme, yet pony and bologna do. If English is logical compared to Thai, then Thai must have been designed by throwing darts at sounds and spellings. :P

Seriously, though, English phonetics are fucking weird.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

That's because English was influenced by a bunch of completely different languages at different points in time, including one that basically overhauled the spelling to the modern version for the benefit of people whose native language was entirely different and phonetically bizarre in itself.

Old English actually had supremely logical spelling - for example, 'c' was always the sound of the c in 'cat' or 'count', and 'w' was always pronounced as in 'water' - and as such, 'queen' was, for example, spelled 'cwine'.

That's because so many of our words are stolen from other languages. If you look at words that were actually created from English roots they are surprisingly consistent (I think our lack of requiring conjugation might help some here). It's mainly just our vast number of imported words that screw things over (like bologna).

Edit: ninja'd!
