So, today I was waiting in line in the cafeteria with some of my mates.
I have this quarter in my hands and want to pass the time, so I grab it, and tell one of them, "Okay, heads, I win, tails, you win."
At this point a third friend adds, "Well, if it lands just perfectly in the middle, I win!"
We have a good laugh about the improbability of this.
I toss the coin, and open my hand wide. When it falls, I close my hand.
The coin didn't fall in my palm. By pure chance, it went right through the middle of my fingers, and when I closed my hand, got stuck in a perfectly vertical position.
Physics is awesome.

UGH my head is now being filled in with all the temporal problems with people's writing.

It is always weird when people project into the past things in the present and I don't mean Anachronisms but rather where their naming conventions are things that only make sense in retrospect.

For example it would be like if someone made a movie about World War 1... and a character went "We are in the midst of a war... a world war... the first... World War One".

Or when someone makes a present day character except writes them as a character in the past: "Ha ha! I can see all these lies and superstitions for what they are!"

Goodness I actually mind Anachronisms LESS to be truthful... because Anachronisms don't harm or interfere with the setting, they are just mistakes. Someone making a mistake of believing that Rome had clocks, for example, isn't hurting anything.

For example it would be like if someone made a movie about World War 1... and a character went "We are in the midst of a war... a world war... the first... World War One".

The earliest confirmed usage of "First World War" dates back to 1916, and the wording of that particular telegram suggests that it was an already known usage.  World War One isn't dated as far back as the actual fighting (being first encountered in the early 1920s), but is a reasonable extrapolation from an existing usage. Not only was the Great War recognized very early on to be significantly larger in scale (in terms of the number of soldiers, the percentage of the planet that was either directly fighting or sending troops, the number of nations involved, and the monetary cost), but the concept of "The war that will end war" was pretty much dead and buried by mid-war. This particular phrasing isn't anachronistic at all.

It is sort of the thing about Sequels Lord Shonus, they only get a "One" after the "Two" exists.

It isn't so much "Anachronistic" as temporally inconsistent.
