Sorry for not spoilering, I don't much like posts where the majority is spoilered. It's annoying.

Evolution is not mutually exclusive with creation. Micro-Evolution is proven. It's MACRO-evolution on a worldwide scale that can't be proven, which is mutually exclusive to creation. The great argument is Creation vs MACRO-Evolution. On which I take the Creation side, on which you can blame my upbringing.

It's impossible for microevolution not to imply the possibility of macroevolution. It can be proven and has been proven and observed multiple times around the world.

Why don't we talk about the finer points of the flat earth theory?

Why is the WTF thread becoming the 'Let's Strawman Religion' thread?

Why don't we talk about the finer points of the flat earth theory?

The "round earth" "theory" is just brainwashing by the NWO.

in all seriousness though there's some interesting concepts related to that. My favorite is wrongness. Waaaaay back when, people thought the Earth was flat; they were wrong. By a few thousand years ago, people thought the Earth was a sphere; they, too, were wrong (as it's an oblate spheroid). But saying that the latter is just as wrong as the former is wronger than both combined. I believe that was Asimov, and the concept is "wronger than wrong".

Speaking as a Christian; young-earth creationism is silly. Granted, that doesn't mean I like to think humans evolved from apes, but the general idea of interpreting a book as scientific fact when it was written thousands of years before "science" existed...
Speaking as another Christian: the idea of a universe in the first place is, at the least, mildly silly. Slightly droll, at the bare minimum. I'm not saying that young-earth creationism is true, just saying that silliness does not necessarily preclude truth.

What I got was that sex did all these bad things and that only abstaining kept you safe from stds. I did not mean to imply that teaching people about mod having babies is a bad thing. Apologies. Again.
You didn't really, I'm just sick of people complaining about abstinence education and not saying why. Cases can be made for other forms of education, but it's kind of a knee-jerk thing for me to pursue such comments after reading an SJW saying that abstinence was not a foolproof form of contraception. The only way it couldn't work would be if you didn't understand the concept of abstinence, but at that point it's even odds that you'll get confused and stick tab A into slot C instead of slot B. But yes, failing to follow abstinence will cause issues, as will failing to pursue any other form of contraception.

EDIT: ninja'd.

You're not really helping your case here, dude.

-snip-
Not gonna argue with that particular link, seems like decently-researched science at first glance, haven't read it in detail yet, but argument tip: it is rarely a good idea to quote from sources that are already arguably leaned towards your position.

EDIT: ALLA THESE NINJAS!

Why don't we talk about the finer points of the flat earth theory?
It would be an interesting change.

Flabort you're already hitting a few psuedo-science talking points.

Theory in the scientific world means "body of knowledge", not "unproven idea".  Gravity is a theory, that doesn't meant that it hasn't been thoroughly tested.

Also saying something "cannot be proven" is... not wrong, but not exactly how science works.  Science is about taking a hypothesis that can be disproven, and then doing a test that could disprove it.  So its not finding fossils and saying "well this looks like old animal corpses, but its not enough evidence so w/e".  Its looking at fossils and saying "I think these are a million years old, let's carbon date them and find out."

So in regards to evolution, its "I think we evolved from these mammals, let's compare our genomes and find out."  And other tests, that one's just an example.  Of course, that kind of thing can't 100% prove evolution, but nothing can ever be known 100%.  Good science never claims to definitively prove anything, because science is based on the idea that anything can be questioned, including scientific findings.  Instead science is a vehicle for tying down what has been observed.

Also re: Tahujdt, its simple.  "Abstinence education" is code for not explaining to kids how to properly have sex, so that they won't.  Also yes, abstinence doesn't guarantee a lack of pregnancy but generally that would involve rape so its an irrelevant argument.  Or I guess pulling out but its a very dumb definition of abstinence that includes that.

I want to insult it but it insults itself.
I read that as boots as first.

It actually still made sense.
I like big boots and I cannot lie.
True love does not discriminate based on size!
Is it just me, or do too many anime/manga have a weird obsession with boot size?

Ahhh all the reasons I get irksome whenever someone says science is just logic.

Since no matter what happens, you have to just accept what someone is telling you for no reason.

Except with science, you can actually go out and do tests if you don't believe what someone is telling you. C'mon, man. If I tell you that the sky is blue, and you don't believe me, you go look at the sky.

... no? The big thing with science is, y'know, you can go check.

And II, it's not just an anime/manga thing. Non-live action stuff just has an easier time displaying it.

That sir, is a subjective experience.  You would have to get the wavelengths together and prove that we were all seeing what is popularly accepted as blue.

As proof, I submit that with my Astigmatism, which allows me to see 'redder' and 'bluer' colors depending on which eye I shut.  Whoo curvy-light.

Right, because most rapists think to use condoms if they're properly educated as to contraception. That, and most rapist victims will insist that the rapist wear a condom.

Do they, actually? I don't know, and I'm reluctant to google that to find out.

Also, not explaining to kids how to have sex is not necessarily a bad thing. It may be slightly stupid, because it's dumb to think that they can't find, um, "walkthrough videos"* on the internet, but it's not bad.

*A man who came to speak to my theology class about addictions gave me this euphemism. He said that he referred to pornographic videos and literature as "training videos" and "training manuals".

Really? you have an electromagnet in your back yard AND can prove that electromagnets are viable sources of information based off of science YOU done?

Not all science is Math where eventually you learn to PROVE IT... A lot of science is about skipping over the process of learning.
