You are mistaken.  They are descended from elves, but are as interested in !!SCIENCE!! and !!WAR!! as any proper dwarf.  Don't be a racist, look at what they did.

They made metal golems of mid-high level armor and used magma to power their machines and trapped the souls of their enemies to build a living fucking God that was almost made whole (?)2 millennia later and was only left incomplete by them because they were too busy TRANSCENDING PLANES like bosses.

Either they live on as puffs of energy in some 'behind' spacetime in some sithis-void or they are all dead from one great lever-pull.  They are dwarves with pointy ears.  Even their scientist ghosts keep fucking up unwary adventurers.

They were mistaken as little people by giants, who were too busy getting stabbed to death by them to get it right.  And they were bearded.

TES dwarves were best TES elves. Dunmer are cool too.

Khajiit were supposed to be elves too. Basically everyone is either man, mer or lizard uplifted by sentient trees that existed before their world was created.

Not true. Their biggest goal was to tear appart souls to see what made them tick and try to do reverse of that to their whole race to became part of Anumidium, god of their own making.
