To be perfectly honest, being surprised at this outcome after occasionally dipping into that thread for a bit of light reading is akin to being surprised when the train which derails whilst crossing a very high bridge eventually plunges beneath the waves.

Oh, that guy was banned?  hmmm, his threads weren't bad but he certainly seemed to want to provoke a reaction from people, whether to get them to debate/discuss more or I guess trolling.  I thought it was a style of writing thing.

Nah, the style was part of it. Critter was specifically patterning its posts to provoke and whatnot, while still (ostensibly) staying within the guidelines. It's a fairly common trolling technique, honestly, made somewhat worse by the fact that there's actually some personalities that default to that style of communication unintentionally. Was notably more likely to be intentional, though, especially considering the subject and point(s) of origination for the individual in question, where that sort of thing is fairly common.

To me, it was the "Okay guys, I know this thread has been locked the last two times we've had it, but let's do this again!" mentality.

This is why we can't have nice things. Or religion threads. Or Ukraine. Or bronies. Or especially religious Ukrainian bronies.

I think a couple religion threads haven't been terrible, or at least they took a long time to become terrible.
