RE: the bulletproof 'blankets' that are actually shitty three-fold pads that barely cover 1/3 of the visible surface area of the kids in the article's photo...

ProTecht, which posted a video of a test blanket being shot with test gunfire, is made with the same material that makes up the body armor military and police officials rely on.

What I want to know is if they had test children under those test blankets when they were being shot with test gunfire. It's the only way to be sure. And it's not like it isn't in line with the general attitude of the firearms industry towards the safety of unarmed innocents in the wrong place at the wrong time; if one of the test children gets hurt it's their fault for not returning fire at the test shooters.

There's a great number of europeans here, for whom the states' raging gunboner is generally a puzzling and worrisome fetish. Plus a good handful of pro-gun-control+pro-gun-ownership folks. Support for something approaching actual gun control isn't exactly opposed in these parts.

Also some of your normal NRA spectrum opinion sets re: gun control, sure, they've just got something of a habit of getting themselves banned at some point or another.

Only a fairly small handful that's legitimately outright anti-gun, though, for what that's worth. Anti-gun by standard american political polemics, maybe, but so is anyone that isn't actively pissing guns into the hands of adulating pre-teens so vOv

im not American but i will admit i find it hard to see the faults in there policies past the fact there policies arent as stupidly strict as they are here i think its much better to be to lax on the matter then to be restrictive you shouldent be restricted in what weapons you can have it should just be prove your psychologically stable and then you can get whatever the hell firearm you want

edit:speaking of gun control is there a thread for it i generally like to avoid threads for discussion of a single topic because i get nothing but shit for not launching into a detailed explanation of my reasoning behind my thoughts and what not but for this i am very much willing to defend my case

As for gun control threads, there's been a solid handful of the things. Six, seven, maybe more, I do believe, plus both of the progressive discussion threads have their regular gun-control derails, as have the american politics threads, and occasionally in any discussion involving the state of the police force in the US. And more stuff. It pops up pretty regularly. S'understandable, given the amount of trouble the US has due to its gun culture.
