You know how you were told that there would always be slackoffs, even when you get out of school?

It's true.
had a team presentation to put together today. 33 slides across 6 people.  We coordinated who would do what and went to work.
15 minutes before deadline we were putting all our slides together and determining how they will be presented. 2 of the 6 people on out team were not responding.  getting close to time we throw most of the missing slides together real quick and run out of official time before finishing 2.  But since we are not going first we get some extra while other teams present.  The missing 2 finally respond to us and say that they will do the two remaining slides (that they were supposed to have started an hour ago.).  We did 31, they do 1 each, sounds fair.

Our turn comes up and we get ready to merge the slides during prep and find that of the 2 slides, one of them is empty, and the other has only one line of incorrect information in it. (they had 10 minutes)  When asked about it one of them just stated. "Chill, we're rehires, none of this matters."  And then they had the gall to protest to the trainer when the presenter took their names off the first slide.

You're right, 'tis indeed true. You seem to have found six of them >_>

Less ribbingly, let this be a noted and hopefully learned lesson that trying to put together the fruits of a group project fifteen minutes before a deadline is a bad idea. Day before, hour(s) before, etc., so forth, so on. When you give yourself no wiggle room for setbacks, you cultivate disaster.

Given that the thing was apparently done over the course of a single day, the tight time constraints are somewhat understandable, but... if you have any option whatsoever besides cutting it close like that, take that option. Especially when you're coordinating with other people and not particularly able to keep track on everyone's efforts (and them, on yours) in real time. Otherwise you get sideswiped by stuff like part of your team not having done much of anything, instead of knowing about it and either galvanizing them or compensating for their lack of effort. Learning experience! Take more time, next time.
