The original plan was to use large numbers of remote controlled helicopters, and tie students to them. After that was deemed too expensive, another method involving catapults and physics students was proposed. We don't talk about that one.

I can gurantee that Quidditch will become THE sport once we get either jet packs or hoverboards. Of course three dimensional combat may be a bit much for the average simpleton who watches sports, we may have to change the name to something less nerdy, and a few politicians may need to be assassinated to prevent it from being banned due to safety concerns, but still.

Well, the main problem is that quidditch relied on quick movements and fast reaction times, which is not something that the average hover board or jet pack would allow, as well as the fact that a lot of training would be required to fluidly move with either of those tools.
It would still be kickass though.

How do you know so much about the agility of hoverboards?

I can see quidditch being a zero-G sport in a large, enclosed arena. Maybe have players wear a harness that contains small retro thrusters for quick manuevers.

Quidditch is entirely built on Aristotelian physics I.E magic and happy thoughts. too bad.
