Look MMOs have always been a rather... poor genre to put it politely. (My favorite MMO was and will always be Ultima Online... oddly enough... with City of Heroes in second)

When you are talking about a good MMO you are basically talking about a series with next to only bad games.

So you need to lower your standards, like a lot, I mean a WHOLE LOT!... Pretend Maple Story was the best game you ever played..

And then you are in the mindset of MMORPGs.

MMORPGs are like the Romantic Comedies of Videogames. (To admit a few genres got that privilege as well... Even point and clicks, one of my favorite genre, I am not afraid to say is mostly a garbage genre)

Also don't worry Greatorder, I am calling it now Archage will not last too too long. It is a "Free to play" that is clearly not a free to play game where the community is openly hostile to anyone playing for free or who do not wish to pay for free (so immediate caustic environment).

Looking at archage's reviews out of curiosity.

What I've seen is 'It's not like other MMOs! There's PvP! Less dungeons! Boats! You have to look after your mount! 120 classes!'

Which I see as 'It's like any other MMO but with a few gimmicky features and a slight gameplay change.'

Looking at the videos, the graphics are pretty bad to boot, even for an MMO.

Do people just have some weird sub-standard mindset for MMOs or something? Because I've seen people praising them and praising them when there's no discernible difference between that one and the one before it.

Eh, out of any of them it's probably what I'd play.  Also, I don't know where you're getting the whole bad graphics thing from.  From all of the streams I've seen of it the graphics are actually way better than most (then again I haven't really seen anything from Aion or any of those other Korean MMOs.  Definitely beats WoW and the Old Republic, that's for sure).
