I don't understand how one plays MUD without macro or filter.
But then again, the sort of MUD I play is like Achaea which have a lot of message spam.
Oh wow YOU TOO?! :))
...Yeah, I play without a macro or filter XD Though triggers are pretty needed for those quick ambush-y fights and anti-thievery.
Play an MUD, learn to cull spam. That's how I learned ._.
And typing speed HELPS TONS HERE too...You'll also learn formatting ways as an aside :P

What sort of skrub uses insecure telnet? 4096-bit RSA-encrypted SSH is where it's at :P

(I'm not sure if you can use ssh for muds but eh.)

Today, my WTF came from two Chrome processes, each taking up 25% of my quad-core CPU. Taskkill did nothing. End Process from task manager did nothing. Google Chrome wasn't even open at this stage, either.
Eventually I just rebooted the thing, but after starting Chrome again in a fit of insanity, the same thing happened again. Two processes. Half of my CPU. Absolutely unkillable. The hell, Google? I thought you were better than this.

MushClient bestClient.
MushNet master race?

Regarding Chrome, this, this and most recently this might be of interest and use.

Hrm. I'm going to look into this. It warrants further testing.

Just watched a film that made Dragon Ball Z's fight scenes seem almost believable by comparison. :o

The Raid 2.
And believe me, the IMDB rating there is rather misleading...

cmd / taskkill can kill processes that the GUI can't. Commandline for the win.

Ummm...
I don't wanna rain on your parade, but what is an MUD and where can I acquire it?
Online multiplayer text adventures, usually with combat & open world RPG elements. The 1980's predecessor to MMOs, although many were still kicking around a few years ago last time i checked. They don't need a lot of hosting power like MMOs do, because they're text based.

You can find generic fantasy RPG ones, and there are also specialized ones that recreate worlds from particular fantasy novel series, e.g. I used to play one called Harper's Tale, which is set in the world of the Pern novels, it's still around.

I played one very briefly based on Discworld. I don't do terribly well with the solely text output and I got lost very easily in Ankh Morpork.
The game layout is a bit like "Zork 1" if you've seen that. A description is given and you enter commands to explore like "Move West", "Look", "Use X" etc etc.
I think the attraction to them still is rather the same as with Dwarf Fortress. The simple graphics of the game allows a surprising amount of descriptive and mechanic depth.
They're like early MMOs, as multiple players can connect at once and interact with each other. Monsters are fought turn based style based off stats is such a thing is included.

Also, most of them are focused on RP, which is probably the biggest attraction for some of them.

A big draw is the chat and roleplaying in some of them. That's what Harper's Tale was mostly about. As well as move you "say X" and it functions like IRC chat inside a game. Move to a different location to chat to different people.

So, Zork, but you interact with real people.

You got me by 9 seconds ;D

Stephen Fry's idea of a break from Twitter is apparently to tweet more often than he was before.
