My dad doesn't want me using the cheese-grater in case I cut myself.

There's always something that comes up whenever my step-mother tries to teach me life skills. Especially when teaching me to cook.

To be fair, grating cheese isn't exactly a life skill. It's more like a 50/50 chance at shredded fingertips and red cheese.

But cooking is a life skill, and he always sees something in the process of making a meal that upsets him, thinking I'll get hurt.

That I can't cook with the oven, stove, or fryer in case I burn myself. That I can't peel potatoes in case I cut myself. That I can't use the barbeque in case I blow it up. He doesn't want me to use the washer in case I get water spilled, or the dryer in case of a lint fire. There's always something that makes him paranoid.

Hell, I'm not allowed to clean my own room in case I get my hands dirty. He wants me to ask him to do it, and often when I ask him to clean something he will complain and will usually not get around to it for days.

My step-mother has been giving him non-stop shit for the past few months whenever he starts up, and it hasn't helped any.

He is easily paranoid and way too prone to stress to keep acting like he does.
