A Canadian woman (25), who stopped to let ducklings cross the highway 5 years ago,
has been sentenced today by a unanimous jury in Montreal.
The charges against her were criminal neglicence, causing the death of a motorcyclist and his 16 year old son, and a double charge of reckless driving behaviour.
The maximum sentence for the former is life imprisonment, for the latter it's 14 years.
So she could be looking at a maximum sentence of life plus 28 years.

While I agree that it is insanely stupid to stop your car in the middle of the highway to let animals cross,
I cannot imagine a hippie animal hugger serving life.

I think any mind would go insane having to reflect on serving life for trying to do the right thing, albeit naively stupid.
Perhaps the most sane thing to do in that situation is to do something horrible enough to a fellow inmate or guard, to warrant such severe punishment, to keep from going insane.

That said, if they rear-ended her, it might have been a case of driving too fast, too close.

Can someone explain to me WHY German soldiers in Chaplin's Great Dictator are using Swedish Krag-Jørgensen rifles all along the movie? I'm not sure if this belongs here or the happy thread (since I find it really funny) but I'll put it here to avoid offense. MoLAoS, who got a week long mute yesterday for fighting, is now listed on the moderation thread as permanently banned for fighting/mod sassing.
