Yeah man, the dihydrogen monoxide content in tap water is way too high for human consumption.

The other stuff content in it kinda' is too high for regular Frumple consumption, though. Or at least something about whatever they're doing to it in this general area is. Consistently get dangly-throat-thing swelling from drinking tap water for more than a day or two

Which... is painful. Bad painful. Can't swallow without it feeling like someone's taking a knife to my throat. Also can't really swallow anything non-liquid at all. Really sucky way to spend... several days, each time (experimentation to isolate main causal factor is important! Especially when the consulted doctors say, "I don't know wtf is causing this or what it is.").

D'you live out in the boonies? I make that transition from city to country a couple times per year, and the biggest quality-of-life change is the drinkability of the tapwater, shortly followed by the level of air pollution.

Depends on what you mean by boonies, but the short answer is "Both", by this area's standards. I've had it happen in cities with population in the 50k+ range, the 150k+ range, and towns in the <1k range. So. Yeah. I mean, with the town it kinda' makes sense -- I know the water manager doohicky well enough, and he is a drunkard who has been known to peddle drugs out of city vehicles (The answer to "How is this fuck not fired and/or in jail?" seems to be "blackmail", as far as anyone with sense can figure.) -- but the larger areas, less so.

I can't speak to the cities, seeing as none of the ones I've lived in have ever given me problems like that, but I certainly have trouble with the water in towns of ~<10k. Depending on the region it might be something like pollutants getting into the watertable, in which case you're pretty much stuck buying bottled water shipped in from elsewhere -- aka purified tapwater from elsewhere.

We get our water out of aquifers. It's pretty much pure water - no treatments or whatever. Occasional spider, but that's because of the council's low-budget water storage systems.

i also get water out of aquifers and while water quality could be better if my place of residence was located approximately 50 kilometers south it's already good enough

i have actually consulted the gentlemen at the pumping station regarding this matter

The tapwater here just plain tastes awful. Though I've found sticking it in a pitcher and letting it sit for 12+ hours helps somewhat.

Otherwise, bottled water it is, if I'm going to drink water at all.

i guess i will have no sisters i will now relegate myself to the sad thread or i won't because i already pondered the idea and grew used to my lot in life
