The sheer depths of obsession involved? I don't presume to know the actual reasons, but my guess would be that she doesn't want anyone to potentially come back and research her as a professional and happen across this rather than someone on here secretly storing data, but that's a pure guess.

I basically accidentally wound up outing the fact that someone I know is crushing on me... and now I'm trying to figure out what exactly to do about it.

But that's exactly what I meant. Someone could just screenshot all her posts for use as blackmail and invalidate her efforts to stop people from quoting her.

But that's exactly what I meant. Someone could just screenshot all her posts for use as blackmail and invalidate her efforts to stop people from quoting her.

That's an insane amount of effort to put into something which, even if it did come to fruition*, would not be particularly worthwhile. As in, you could come out farther ahead spending your time gambling or working for American minimum wage**.

*I'm pretty sure that nobody on here actually has enough information to assemble even a basic profile of her, much less a concrete identity.
**Blackmailing a law school grad who isn't old and wrinkly is like trying to sop up concrete with a sponge: ain't nothing much there.

Leaving aside that I'd like to think that nobody around here is that sort of scum.

They don't need to be a Bay12er. Hell, they don't even need to be a member. All they need to do is to have a bot which monitor her posting history and periodically archive her posts.

But maybe I just need to stop idly wondering how everything can theoretically be broken.
