Well if you think about it what kind of legged creature would be more likely to survive massive sizes?  Something with 4 legs or 8 legs to distribute the weight?

Sure they might not technically be spiders but all they need to do is look like them.

Though a quick wikipedia look indicates finding anything we would even recognize as life on that particular exoplanet (should it actually exist) would be slim to nil.  What with the 1200 Centigrade temperature, being much, much closer to it's star than mercury is to ours, and being perpetually molten and all.

And I just found out what it is I'm stuck going to tomorrow. The company sets up job fairs, amongst other events. I'm not going to a job fair tomorrow though. I'm going to the headquarters of a job fair organizer to ask them about jobs.

Obviously they are very intellegent giant magma spiders because they have spaceships. 

They suffocate when they open the hatch to their spaceships to bring their message of peace and ask permission to eat all of our household cockroaches and termites.  Because War of the Worlds taught us that aliens don't understand basic bio-containment procedures.
