Ah yes, I've smelled incoming rain before, however nonsensical it seems...  Sometimes the air even becomes heavy with moisture before the rain comes... but then you could probably see it coming by looking outside around then.

I can pretty accurately smell whether it's gonna rain later in the day. I'm pretty sure I'm just smelling the moisture from rain that is travelling in my direction, but it seems to work decently enough.

Being able to smell rain is pretty common, in my experience.
A coming storm has an amazing smell. One of my favourites, for sure.

I can smell rain, yeah. I can also smell snow but that's more inaccurate that not.

For humidity, what I need is some, but not too much.

Too little and my throat dries out. Too much and I feel like I'm breathing soup and permanently sweaty.

This, also with too little my sinuses dry out and I inevitably end up with a nosebleed. Too little and too much is the difference between California and Florida, respectively. I've been to both states in the summer, both times I was miserable. I'd rather stay up north where it's nice and cool.

I find that I can smell the extra, cooler moisture in the air when it's going to rain. Even in horrifically humid (98%, woohoo~) conditions.

I love the air right before a summer thunderstorm. I also love humidity. I rather enjoy being able to osmose water straight out of the air into my skin.
I like visiting deserts, but hell if I'd ever live in one.

Also, on the whole thunderstorm thing, if I remember the article I read forever ago correctly, the sense of smell works better under wetter conditions, or at least more humid conditions.  That's why we get that awesome smell of wet asphalt, and why everything smells so good after it rains.
