Atheist grad student in the Classics department is wondering why Ray Comfort hasn't been assassinated yet. Such euphoric.
I'm more wondering why the Sauds or Ayatollah Khomeini haven't been assassinated. They're theocrats that actually matter, so... >____>

I'm surprised that my silly game has filled up more quickly than my serious one. I must be more appealing to the homicidal maniac crowd or something.

This entire forum fits neatly into the homicidal maniac slot, if you haven't noticed

My experience tells me that the OG, CP, GD, and LA boards are less homicidal than your average upper boarder, and that the Mafia and Curses boards are insane even by those standards.

My surprise is at the appeal, anyway, not the crowd itself.

Why must you throw things at me that are random and unexpected right when I need it least?

This time it was the CPU grinding, which I haven't seen before on the forum.  I had a free upgrade to double the RAM, so we'll see if that helps at all.

I'm glad you've downloaded more RAM.
This remind me of that one SCP which is a file with negative memory space.

Bloody Steam servers.

Or at the moment, the lack thereof.

Not because it's one of those paranoid guys. No. It was because it was that link in a reply to a comment. No context. Juuuuust a link :P

Meh, about half the stuff Boy Scouts take on a standard campout.

"If I could take only 1 item with me" uh, I'd take the backpack dude, everything else is in it. That way you get the backpack plus all the stuff. What, is this some kinda shitty genie telling you to pick a single discrete object? Like, if you said "lighter" he's gonna hand you one without fuel or a flint? Taking the hatchet is a cheat because you get the hatchet, the handle, and the little wedge at the top that makes the head not fall off.

Plus if you only get one item you don't have clothes, so enjoy using your hatchet to make shoes out of pine boughs so you're not walking on snow, and a loincloth out of bark so your junk isn't hanging out when they find your frozen corpse in the Spring.

C'mon. The old "select one item" thing is just 100% bogus.

That's fallacious and you know it.  :P

Alternatively: There's a difference between a filled container and a discrete object. A backpack (with all of the different straps, handles, pockets, etc.) is still a single object; all of those bits fall under the umbrella of "backpack". A backpack full of stuff is an object filled with other objects. The assignment of meaning is a pretty simple concept; when we say "backpack" people think of, well, a backpack (as opposed to all the components of a backpack) for the same reason that they don't think of its atomic structure. Saying "Lol a backpack filled with other things is one object" just defeats the purpose of the exercise by removing the difficulty from the choice. :I
