Apparently, someone got stuck and thought they could unstick the car by revving the engine until it redlined, while people pushed. Instead, they just blew their engine which then caught on fire.

Many years ago when I was in the Raleigh area for college, I believe in 2004, Raleigh declared a state of emergency due to an inch of snow.  Being from NY I laughed and laughed at them.

Many years ago when I was in the Raleigh area for college, I believe in 2004, Raleigh declared a state of emergency due to an inch of snow.  Being from NY I laughed and laughed at them.

And now you see why.

Category III Hurricane with 110mph wind? Meh....board up the windows and throw a party.

3-4 inches of snow? THE END IS NIGH.

I live in the rural northwest, so, as you can imagine, we simply laugh and caress our beards when the east coast goes into apocalypse mode a good days worth of snow [For here, atleast].

In normal WTF: A stock I left for dead in my portfolio is up 50% today, neat!

Mind you, a big part of Raleigh's problem is that there are really no plows. 100% of snow that falls goes on the road and stays there.

I'm pretty sure that was because it was an ice storm. The snow wasn't the bad part, the ice is what killed the city for a few days.

I was in Portland on a weekend trip a couple years back and saw graffiti on a hedge. Who the hell tags a hedge?! I was laughing for several minutes on that one.
