I'm actually kind of curious on how they'd treat an "unpaid" bill like that. Would they ding me with a missed payment charge? I don't know if a missed payment is percentage based or a flat 2-3 dollar fee.

If it's percentage-based, they're going to just endlessly send bills for $0.

Pretty much.

The only logical reason they send them out is because if they didn't, presumably some people would just deduct ~$1.50 from all of their payments knowing the company wouldn't bother to bill for the remainder.

Dunno what actually would cost the company more. I'm betting it's sending out the bills.

A friend got me to try a new online game through it's beta.

The game has constant connection issues, it often takes more than half an hour an a lot of fiddling just to get in in the first place.
And then it seems that when I actually get in the game it's just a generic MMO that defaults the view to first person and even in the starter areas I'm seeing I'm being punished for keeping it that way as I can't see the targeting circles on the ground well in first person.  Then I learn that the game will have a box price + sub fee + strong hints of a cash shop.  And I quickly lose interest.

The friend is now mad at me when I tell him I'm not hugely impressed.  Because it seems he took my willingness to try it as a sign for him to preorder the game immediately.  He refuses to play any online games without me, so he's telling me I just made him waste $60.

Dude I just said that I'm not impressed, that doesn't mean I won't ever be.  I want to move on and see what else there is to see, but YOU WON'T LET ME because you insist I don't play on without you, and you won't play it for more than an hour a day, including the time it takes us to connect.  We're 2 days into the 3 day long beta and we're still in the goddamn starter zone!  Of course I'm bored!
