Doublepost because holy shit. When I went back out to my truck to turn in for the night, I discovered that my nice memory foam mattress pad, normally soft and malleable, was frozen. Kinda. It was so cold in here that, instead of being soft and springing back into shape after applying pressure, it is quite solid and any imprints persist for a few moments. Not all that comfortable.

Wow, I never had this happen  to my foam, no matter how cold the nights got. Might have been a different sort of foam, though. Still, I assume it will warm up after a bit and regain it's previous functionality?

I do remember waking up to find a fine layer of frost essentially froze my topmost blanket though. Man, there were some days where "never getting out bed" seemed like a great idea - where I really wish I'd invested in a remote start, since the ignition was too far away to stay warm, heh.

High today where I am: 68 degrees (20 for those of you not using degrees Freedom).
Projected high for tomorrow: 29 degrees (-1).

I mean, I know it's Oklahoma, but this is getting ridiculous.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

7f/-14c here. When I get out of work tomorrow, we're supposed to be at -5f/-21c, with a wind chill of -20f/-28c.

Remind me again why people settled here?

haha, oh wow whenever im bored on the internet i find this stuff XD http://www.autocopter.us/Gunship.htm

Initially I thought it was some sort of 18 inch gimmick, with itty-bitty toy "guns" mounted on it to pepper poor field mice with little red foam darts. Until I figured out the actual scale of the thing and realized those were actually shotguns. I definitely want one, although I'm not sure if I'd be able to purchase automatic shotguns without being immediately arrested.

Maybe I'll just proceed with the blimp idea and float around the mountains, gently bumping unsuspecting goats off cliffs.

Also, degrees Fahrenheit are so much more useful than Celsius for day-to-day life. I mean, I get using the kelvin scale or Celsius for, like, science and shit, but Fahrenheit goes on a scale of 0 = "really cold in some places, but it gets colder elsewhere" to 100 = "really hot in some places, but it gets hotter elsewhere" compared to Celsius having 0 = "kinda cold" to 100 = "I can't hear you over the sound of my being dead." Also, having much finer increments means you can have subtler temperature changes without resorting to decimals.

Celsius has fine increments. It's called decimals. Besides, fine increments don't really matter in temperature. There's hardly a difference between, say, 64 and 63 F, neither is there a noticeable difference between 14 and 15 degrees C.
Also, Celsius is actually based on physical constants instead I'd what, the coldest that was measured when the guy thought up the scale and body temperature? Besides, Celsius is very useful too. 0 = pretty cold, you can get snow from this point on. 10 = not all that cold. 20 = lower boundary of "cold".

Not really, 40 is normal around the equator, I think.

Screw Celsius and Farenheit either. Real men measure temperature in Kelvin's scale.

I felt freking warm today - it was 263 K. Had to wear my coat freking open.

It really depends on humidity. That's why I love mountains. All the humidity goes up the mountains, form clouds and falls back down again as rain.

Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, Rankine... None of these scales tell me how comfortable the temperature is. This is why I propose the LOP-scale. (Layers of protection)

-6 - Fire extinguisher - Burning
-5 - Sweat + 24/7 Fan with ice and cold drinks + (underwear) - Just die already
-4 - Sweat + 24/7 Fan with cold drinks + (underwear) - Unbearable
-3 - Sweat + 24/7 Fan + (underwear) - Hot
-2 - Sweat + (underwear)- Warm
-1 - (Plain underwear) - Manageable
 0 - Plain pants - Comfortable
 1 - T-shirt - Slight breeze
2 - Thin sweater - Is the heater working
3 - Thick sweater - Seriously, is it working?
4 - Jacket - Did I pay the heat bill?
5 - Winter jacket - Most likely didn't pay the heat bill.
7 - Arctic jacket - Forgot to pay rent in the arctic Winter.
 8 - Furnace - Hypothermia
