Oh, that game. Heard of it, but I wasn't really a computer person when it came out I think. My first "real" computer game was Rome: Total War :P

I /have/ seen factions go against their natural inclinations from time to time, but i've never seen Miriam make peace with Zarkhov. Must be hard coded.

You picked an awesome game to get started with.

Me? I got started with Baldur's Gate.

Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Or maybe it was Simcity 3000?

I think you can tell what kind of games I liked as a kid.

Miriam is opposed to knowledge social engineering and is also highly aggressive, demanding tech in replace for a halting of destruction. Zhakarov's agenda is knowledge social engineering and will almost always be so far technologically ahead that he won't even view Miriam as a threat from the start of their negotiations. So almost always they will be at war. That said, Miriam will almost always be at war with everyone who is her neighbour anyways. Expansionist fundamentalist zealots do not make good neighbours when you wish to conduct unethical science in peace :P

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and Worms World Party.
I do not remember which one I played first. They are both incredibly awesome though.

Age of Empires 2. And so began a passionate love affair with map editors and creation tools.

... earliest PC game I remember well is probably Odell Lake, along with stuff like the old Carmen Sandiego games, but there were ones before that that I've forgotten, as well. Let the one-upping begin :P

I think I got started with Starcraft... Like, in '98? Something like that. A year or so after it came out.

Mine was either Rollercoaster Tycoon or Worms 2. Well, first proper game. I also had one or two Reader Rabbit 'games', but they were not really games.

My first PC game was the original Prince of Persia. Came on one of those bigass floppy disks. Kinda hard to believe my dad got that game for himself first sometimes after the war, I only got it when my uncle gave us a computer he didn't need and it was the only game we had.

Tho, before that there was the Sega Genesis and a bucketload of games for it that you could buy pretty much anywhere for dirt cheap.
