My headset is, as far as I can tell, broken. I have owned it for exactly a year. The audio doesn't actually work when the jack between the headset and the [thing I forgot what it's called. Box with the mic on/off switch and mic gain dial and that] is plugged in all the way. It needs to be half-out to actually work. What kind of broken is this?

The planned obsolescence kind of broken.

Wait, nevermind, the only broken thing was myself. However, I did learn how to reverse the connection for microphone and speakers for this thing. So that's something.

I got through book 10. The straw that broke the camel's back that made me quit after that book is that, as far as I could tell, it didn't have a climax. I was just slogging my way through it and it suddenly ended.
I actually skipped book 10, but I had nearly no trouble understanding book 11. I just looked at the plot summary somewhere online and I was set.
This. 10 is entirely skippable if you look up the handful of meaningful plot points. I'll sum up everything else right here: Most of it is spent looking for a magical weather control device; Mat is repeatedly humiliated, degraded, raped, threatened with enslavement, nearly killed multiple times, accidentally married to his best friend's enemy, and generally screwed by both his nominal allies and prophecies; pointless Forsaken politicking; revolution in a tiny country that doesn't matter.

Book 11 is where it starts picking up again, and whatever else you want to say about Sanderson, he did a fairly good job closing it out. Also, if you stop at book 10, you miss out on one of the least-expected Chekov's Character moments in the world.

This house.

I have no idea what switch controls what light. Many of the switches control lights that are in a completely different room. In the kitchen there are three switches, all side by side, that all control the exact same light.

You need to get a notebook immediately, and secure 30 days of food and water. You'll also need a lantern, sword, satchel, and engraved lighter.

Once that's ready, begin flipping switches and noting the results in your notebook. There is a combination that will unlock the hatch under the living room rug and allow access to the ruins of the Great Underground Empire.

Is that a reference to something? If so it's flown right over my head.

I'm guessing it's like this because of the fact that we've been through several electricians, and all of them had their own way of doing things. All of them had left the job swearing to never work with my mom's boyfriend again, too.

The house I presently reside in has similar issues with nonsensical light switches. The switch to the bathroom lights upstairs is outside the door, as is the lock to the door, implying, in my mind, that the original owners of the house probably sent their kids in there, shut off the lights and locked the door as some form of punishment. I've considered doing the same to my brother whenever he's in there, but I figure he'd bash down the door and go on a rampage.

There are also several switches in the hallway near the kitchen that do apparently nothing, and several more switches on the stairwell into the basement that do nothing. The master bedroom also doesn't have an overhead light fixture, but the adjacent crawlspace does.

1: The electrician needs to just do his job and not "work with" anybody. Recipe for disaster. Boyfriend needs to keep to himself or leave for the day if he can't handle not butting in.

2: A good tradesman will follow professional guidelines but unless you want to be billed for hundreds of hours fixing previous problems, he's gonna do the best he can. Which probably means it's just making things more complicated for the next guy. Probably not anyone's fault except that first electrician who didn't know what he was doing and/or didn't care enough to do a good job.

No two electricians worked at the same time. The idiot can't help but butt into everything, which would lead to the electrician getting fed up and quitting, then another one would be hired and the process just repeated itself a couple of time. He would honestly stand right over their shoulders as they worked and wouldn't stop barking orders at them and going on about how an electrician is a simple job that requires little skill or knowledge.

"All you do is pull a wire through a hole in the wall." He did the same damn thing to plumbers and other service workers that were hired. Behind a section of drywall someone wrote on a stud that him building this house is like a monkey building a tent.

Everyone who worked knew what they were doing, they just couldn't stand working with someone who treats people who work with him like they are slaves.

That's kinda what I figured. As for the electricians I was just saying that if you walk into a job and the wiring is a mess, and they don't want to pay you to fix everything, all you can do is just try your best at doing exactly they job they want done. If you go back in time to when the house was new, you probably had a couple good electricians and then there was one who just sucked, causing the initial problem which was slightly compounded by later electricians who just don't have the time to fix everything.

Capcom what are you doing how dare you

So they are using a Mega Man Legends 3 character as a cameo in a rhythm game? They're teasing everybody at this point.

But then the game is called Sound Rangers, and a few characters in Mega Man are music puns, so I can sort of see why they'd do it.

Another WTF for me today: My dogs are hyper. They must not be used to being in a new house but they are absolutely spun; they are running around and trying to climb on everything. Including me, and my laptop.

And I haven't checked my laptop's specs in a while. 3Gb RAM, 2.1GHz dual-core processor, and a 32Mb integrated graphics card. Why the hell was this as expensive as it was?
